Yes! There's a wide variety of excellent courses within a 30 minute drive of Girona -

  • Club de Golf Girona, Urb. Golf Girona,s/n, Sant Juliá de Ramís,17481 Girona, Tel 972 171 641, Email: golfgirona@infoservei.es, www.golfgirona.com. Opened in 1991, and designed by Fred Hawtree, Club de Golf Girona is situated up in the Girona Mountains only 10 minutes from Girona city centre. The course consists of sweeping valleys of forest pines, with mostly elevated tee positions. The sloping lies, trees, ravines and tight doglegs make this a testing course, with water hazards on three holes.
  • Golf Fontanals de Cerdanya, Soriguerola, s/n, Fontanals de Cerdanya, 17538 Girona, Tel 972 144 374, Email: golffontanals@ctv.com. The Peugeot Golf Guide gave Fontanals one of the top ratings in its 1996 ranking of the 300 best European courses. Soft slopes create a variety of holes in an attractive natural setting.
  • Club de Golf Costa Brava, Urb. Golf Costa Brava, Santa Cristina D'Aro, 17246 Girona, Tel 972 837 055, Email.: info@golfcostabrava.com, www.golfcostabrava.com. Designed in 1968, along with Pals this is one the oldest courses in the Costa Brava. The course is surrounded by pines and cork oaks, with flat terrain and wide fairways. It differs from Pals in that it is a shorter course and not as tight. The Costa Brava is a private club, but green fees are welcome the whole year.
  • Golf Playa de Pals, Urb. Arenales del Mar s/n, Pals, 17256 Girona, Tel 972 667 739, Email: info@golfplatjadepals.com, www.golfplatjadepals.com. Established in 1966, Pals has held numerous national and European events including the Spanish Open. The course is set in a forest of umbrella pines that runs very close to Pals beach. Narrow tree-lined fairways and doglegs are the features of this superb and testing course.
  • Golf Serres de Pals, Golf Serres de Pals, Pals, 17256 Girona, Tel 972 637 375, Email: golfserres@grn.es, www.golfserresdepals.com. Opened in October 2000, Golf Serres de Pals completes what the locals call the Golden Triangle of golf courses: Emporda, Pals and Serres de Pals. Constructed on the local rice fields, the course is quite different from most of the others in the region. It lies on the typical flattish rolling farmland countryside of the Baix Emporda, with few trees. Strategic doglegs frequent many holes on this course, so placement of your tee shots is paramount.
  • PGA Golf de Cataluña, Caldes de Malavella,17455 Girona, Tel 972 472 577 Email: pgacata@teleline.es, www.pgacatalunya.com. Opened in July 2000, the magnificent PGA Catalunya is situated in the Girona mountains. It has beautiful green fir, scrub and purple heather lining most fairways. The course features water hazards and boarded island greens. Already among Europe’s top 10 courses, PGA Catalunya is the ultimate golfing challenge.
  • Club de Golf Torremirona, Ctra. N-260, Km. 46, Navata, 17744 Girona Tel 972 553 737, Email.: torremirona@retemail.es, www.torremirona.com. Situated four miles west of Figueres, near the village of Navata. Torremirona is set in beautiful rolling countryside with panoramic views overlooking the snow-capped mountains of the Pyrenees. Torremirona has big greens surrounded by beautifully constructed bunkers.
  • Club de Golf Peralada, Paraje La Garriga, s/n., Peralada, 17491 Girona Tel 972 538 287, Email: casa.club@golfperalada.com, www.golfperalada.com. Peralada is an open course on flattish terrain. The design is resort-style and small olive trees line most of the fairways. This course is nearly always in excellent condition and when the greens are cut down for competitions, they can be devilishly fast.
  • Club de Golf D'Aro, Playa de Aro,17250 Girona Tel 972 826 900, Email: golfdaromasnou@retemail.es Built in 1992 this spectacular course has been ranked in the top three in Europe. The course was built by slicing off the very top of a mountain, giving magnificent panoramic views overlooking the town of Platja d’Aro. The course is surrounded by cork oaks, pines and over a thousand olive trees, with two large artificial lakes which make the course even more interesting.
  • Club de Golf Camprodon, Bac de Sant Antoni, s/n., Camprodon, 17867 Girona, Tel 972 130 125, Email: golf_campodron@eresmas.com The Camprodon Golf Club consists of a 9-hole course located in the attractive surroundings of the Valle del Campodron. The course has made the most of the natural course of the River Tortell which cuts across many of the holes, and this means that skill and strategy are vital.
  • Emporda Golf Club, Ctra. Palafrugell-Torroella de Montgri, Gualta, 17257 Girona, Tel 972 760 450, Email: empordagolfclub@ctv.es, www.empordagolfclub.com. The course has hosted the final PGA European Tour Qualifying School in conjunction with Pals.
