Figueres - How far is Figueres?

Figueres is a 30 minute drive north of Girona, or 45 minutes by bus or train. It hosts the mind-boggling Salvador Dali Museum, complete with surreal sculptures and art works. Even the buidling itself is an eye-opener, decorated as it is by Dali's loaves of bread and eggs on each corner. It's the third most popular museum in Spain, beaten in the popularity stakes only by the Guggenheim in Bilbao and Madrid's Prado. The entrance queues can be horrendous, so an early arrival is highly recommended.

After four days crossing the Pyrenees on a motorbike, the apartment provided some much needed r and r! We have enjoyed wandering around the old part of Girona and discovering the many bars and restaurants - especially "el Pou del Call". Our "must do" recommendation is the Dali Museum at Figueres - especially the separate collection of Dali jewels which should not be missed.

Our discovery of Girona was accidental and last minute, but we have thoroughly enjoyed our time here, the apartment and its location - and hope to return.

Mick and Frances Paver, Derbyshire, England
